Painting the outside of a home can be a bit much for an older person, so the city of Shreveport, Louisiana, started a program to connect volunteers with folks who’d like to see their homes get a fresh look.
The team at CSL Plasma recently took part in Paint Your Heart Our Shreveport, which aims to paint 50 homes across the city. The recipient of their hard work was Ms. Alice, who met with them before and after to express her thanks.
“We were excited to not only adopt a home as a staff team building activity but also have the opportunity to develop a relationship with the homeowner, Ms. Alice,” said Shreveport CSL Plasma Center Manager Gary Theus. “Eighteen team members attended, and everyone had a great time giving this house a facelift.”
When they’re not volunteering, the CSL Plasma team staffs a center that collects plasma, the straw-colored blood component that contains proteins needed to make medicines that treat rare and serious diseases. To express their thanks, some of Ms. Alice’s family members decided to donate plasma at the center. CSL Plasma has 300+ centers and the plasma collected is used solely to make these critical medicines.
