Listen: Adapting to Change

Podcast features bleeding disorder experts in celebration of World Hemophilia Day.

Story

Over the past year, all of us have been adapting to major changes in our lives due to the COVID-19 pandemic. One community that has been adapting to change not just this year, but for several decades, is the global bleeding disorders community.

That’s why it’s appropriate that the theme for this year’s World Hemophilia Day on April 17 is “Adapting to Change.” World Hemophilia Day is a day to raise awareness for hemophilia and other bleeding disorders and was established by the leading global patient organization, the World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH)

On the latest episode of the "World of Promise" podcast, host Anthony Farina sits down with Dr. Glenn Pierce, Vice President, Medical, for WFH, to talk about changes in hemophilia and bleeding disorder treatments over the years and how this past year has changed everything. Pierce has 30 years of research and development experience, including co-authoring more than 150 scientific papers and holding over 15 patents.

Also part of the conversation is Dr. Roshni Kulkarni, professor and former Director of Michigan State University’s Center for Bleeding and Clotting Disorders. She’s the former recipient of the National Hemophilia Foundation’s “Physician of the Year” award and Michigan State’s Distinguished Faculty Award.
