Helping Golfers Get a Grip

Pro golfer and bleeding disorders advocate Perry Parker offers tips – and encouragement – for improving your game

Story

Spring means a return to golf for those who aspire to master a most challenging sport.

Pro golfer Perry Parker, who lives with Hemophilia A, has been a consistent source of support for members of the bleeding disorders community.

In this video, Parker helps golfers improve their grip and body mechanics. He’s a reliable source, having participated in three U.S. Opens and won five times on the Canadian Tour.

He’s also one of the founders of CSL Behring’s Gettin’ In the Game Junior National Championship (JNC), the only sporting event of its kind for kids and teens who have bleeding disorders. At the annual gathering, on pause due to COVID-19, Parker has been a constant on the links, helping kids get their start or refine their game.

At the JNC, participants golf, swim and play baseball – three sports lower on the risk scale for those who have bleeding disorders, according to the National Hemophilia Association. When the 2020 event had to be cancelled, Parker filmed a series of virtual golf lessons for the community. He gave pro tips for playing the game while also managing the challenges of hemophilia.
