For nearly a year, CSL Behring’s essential employees, who produce life-saving medicines for patients, have come to work during a global pandemic.
In mid-February, 579 of those employees in Kankakee, Illinois, received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. The Kankakee County Health Department identified CSL Behring’s facility as a frontline essential workplace in Phase 1b of the vaccine roll-out. In the United States, states are handling vaccine distribution often carried out by local health departments with help from pharmacies.
Local pharmacy, Jewel-Osco, provided the vaccines on-site for the Kankakee employees. They are scheduled to receive a second dose later this month and vaccines remain available for Kankakee employees who wish to get one.
