Building Bikes for Kids

CSL Behring employees worked as a team to assemble – and test ride – bicycles for children in a Big Brothers, Big Sisters program in North Carolina.

Story

Learning to ride a bike is a rite of passage for many children, but not everyone can afford a new bicycle.

That’s why the nonprofit organization Team Bonding invites groups to build bikes as a team-building activity. Recently, members of CSL Behring’s End-to-End Operations and Information & Technology teams formed two teams and built bicycles for a Big Brothers, Big Sisters chapter in North Carolina.

According to Team Bonding, the gifted bikes are usually the first bikes ever for the kids who receive them. In 12+ years, more than 18,000 children’s bicycles have been donated to kids around the world.
