The Christmas markets in Marburg, Germany, are lighting up the night in this medieval university town now known as a hub for research and development. The markets are a longtime tradition in Europe and offer a chance for outdoor winter fun with vendors, food, mulled wine and rides for children.
Marburg, where CSL Behring already has a large manufacturing and R&D presence, also will be home to a new seven-story R&D facility to open in 2022. The company has deep roots in the region. The company’s namesake, scientist Emil von Behring, was a professor in Marburg and later won the first Nobel Prize for Medicine. More than 100 years later, CSL Behring develops medicines to treat patients who have rare and serious diseases.
