The audience for a documentary about Jeffrey Modell, who died at 15 due to complications from a primary immunodeficiency, just got a whole lot bigger.
“Do Something: The Jeffrey Modell Story,” released last year, is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video, a service with more than 100 million subscribers.
Jeffrey’s story, lovingly told by his parents who sought expert care for him, demonstrates how little was understood about immune system problems like Jeffrey’s in the 1970s and 1980s. He died in 1986, but his life inspired Fred and Vicki Modell to dedicate their lives to the creation of the Jeffrey Modell Foundation. In its 30+ years, the global organization has supported research, access to specialists and patient support around the globe.
