Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP)

    The Center for Platelet Function Studies is an internationally recognized, multidisciplinary center for the study of platelet function by state-of-the-art methods. The Center undertakes both basic science and clinical research, including clinical trials of drugs, devices, and tests. It also performs studies in collaboration with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device and instrumentation companies.

  • ITP Foundation
    The ITP Foundation was established to raise awareness of Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), and provides assistance to families who have children and/or adolescents with ITP and who are in need of financial support to manage and treat the disorder. The ITP Foundation raises awareness of the disorder through local and national outreach efforts, such as sporting, social and educational events. The Foundation also sponsors endurance athletes who raise funds to further ITP research.

    Founded in New York City in 1952, the Children’s Cancer and Blood Foundation (CCBF) is the first and largest charitable organization dedicated to supporting the care of children with cancer and blood diseases. The mission of the Children's Cancer and Blood Foundation is threefold: to support the comprehensive clinical care of children living with blood disorders, to foster research to help understand the causes of childhood blood disorders, and to sponsor the fellowship training of pediatricians in the subspecialty of pediatric hematology and oncology.

    The European Society for Immunodeficiencies (ESID) is a non-profit organization designed to facilitate the exchange of ideas and information among doctors, nurses, biomedical investigators, patients and their families concerned with primary immunodeficiency diseases, as well as to promote research on causes, mechanisms and treatment of these disorders.

    The Guillain-Barré Foundation provides support and assistance to patients with Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) or Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP) and their families.   • International Union of Immunological Societies
    The International Union of Immunological Societies (IUIS) is an umbrella organization for many of the regional and national societies of immunology throughout the world. The organization’s objectives are to: organize international co-operation in immunology and to promote communication between the various branches of immunology and allied subjects; to encourage, within each scientifically independent territory, cooperation between the Societies that represent the interests of immunology; and to contribute to the advancement of immunology in all its aspects.     Rhophylac® is a sterile solution of anti-D, also known as Rho(D) IgG or Rh factor, which affords protection from Rh-sensitization. Rhophylac can be administered by intravenous (IV) or intramuscular (IM) injection. Hemolytic disease of the newborn (HDN) is a serious medical condition that is caused by incompatibility between the blood of an Rh-negative pregnant woman and her Rh-positive fetus. HDN develops in the fetus when the IgG antibodies produced by the mother pass through the placenta and attack the red blood cells (RBCs) in the fetal circulation. Although HDN does not affect the mother, it can have serious consequences for her baby, such as anemia, jaundice, brain damage, heart failure and mortality.
