Wound Healing

CSL Behring
Wound-healing agents include fibrin sealants, containing certain plasma-derived coagulation factors: fibrinogen and thrombin and the anti-fibrinolytic agent, aprotinin. Fibrin sealants are used to expedite wound healing and to seal cut tissues, control bleeding and permit uncomplicated healing during surgery.

They are used during a wide range of major surgical procedures, including cardiovascular, thoracic, vascular, neurological and abdominal surgery. Treatment of severe wounds requires cessation of bleeding, wound closure and, in some cases, replacement of blood or other fluids to restore normal blood circulation.

Treatment

CSL Behring provides therapies that are used in surgery and the treatment of wounds to speed healing. A fibrin sealant contains the plasma-derived coagulation factors: fibrinogen, thrombin and the anti-fibrinolytic agent, aprotinin. This fibrin sealant can be used in a wide range of surgical procedures, including cardiovascular, thoracic, vascular, neurologic and abdominal surgery.

Human plasma coagulation factor XIII is used to treat congenital deficiency of factor XIII and the bleeding syndromes, hemorrhages and wound-healing problems that result.
