Executive Vice President, Plasma, Supply Chain & Information Systems
Karen Etchberger, Ph.D., is responsible for plasma supply, global planning and supply chain management for CSL Behring, as well as information systems for the CSL group. She is responsible for meeting the organization's plasma needs as well as balancing plasma supply and the global manufacturing network with the needs of plasma products markets served by CSL Behring. In addition, Dr Etchberger is responsible for the strategic management and operational delivery of information systems across the CSL group.
Prior to her current role, Dr. Etchberger served for four years as Senior Vice President of Global Quality. In that position, she was responsible for ensuring the continuing safety and high quality of our worldwide portfolio of products. Some of her key accomplishments included lifting of the consent decree at CSL's Kankakee facility, supporting first round licensing approvals, delivering an excellent inspectional track record with many global regulatory bodies and the implementation of several global Quality systems within CSL. Dr. Etchberger served three years of this role in the Bern, Switzerland location.
Dr. Etchberger’s tenure with CSL dates back to 1994, when CSL Limited purchased JRH Biosciences. At that time, Dr. Etchberger was a Technical Director for JRH, leading their development of a new state-of-the-art manufacturing process including all the technical and regulatory aspects. She then joined CSL in the role of Technical Director. Dr. Etchberger advanced through CSL in roles of increasing responsibility until she joined the executive management team in the Quality role in 2006.
Dr. Etchberger has a doctorate degree in immunology and virology from the University of Maine.
