Senior Vice President, R&D,
ISCOMATRIX ® Adjuvant
Debbie Drane transferred to CSL Behring as a Senior Vice President in the R&D Group in May 2008 from the R&D Group at CSL Limited. In this role she has continued her responsibilities overseeing all aspects of CSL’s proprietary ISCOMATRIX® adjuvant technology.
Debbie has spent her entire scientific career at CSL and has more than 25 years’ experience in R&D, primarily working on vaccine and adjuvant development. She has worked on the ISCOMATRIX® adjuvant program at CSL for more than a decade in both technical and management roles. Some of Debbie’s key accomplishments in her role managing this program include broad licensing agreements with major partners Merck and Pfizer and development of manufacturing processes for both ISCOMATRIX® adjuvant and the key component, ISCOPREP® saponin, which are now being manufactured at commercial scale at CSL Behring’s facility in Kankakee, Illinois.
Prior to focusing on the ISCOMATRIX® adjuvant technology, Debbie led the Vaccine Formulation Group in Research at CSL and was the Project Manager for a number of vaccine projects, seeing them through early clinical studies. She was also the Director R&D Program Management at CSL where she supported Andrew Cuthbertson, the Chief Scientific Officer, in his global oversight of the R&D portfolio and was responsible for Project Management at the Parkville site. She played an important role in the global harmonization of Project Management following the Aventis Behring acquisition in 2004.
Debbie has a BSc from the University of Melbourne majoring in immunology.
